Graduate Students

Nurit Bar-Shai, Ph.D Research Student

Nurit Bar-Shai

Ph.D student, in collaboration with the Golberg environmental engineering lab. My research looks into polysaccharides derived from seaweeds, to grow mammalian cells for tissue culture engineering technologies.

Shahar Goren, Ph.D Research Student

Shahar Goren

I am doing my Ph.D. in the faculty of chemistry, studying the nonlinear and anisotropic properties of fibrous biomaterials, incorporating simulations, experiments in optical tweezers and confocal microscopy.

Yoni Koren, Ph.D Research Student

Yoni Koren

During my Ph.D studies I investigate the mechanism of growth in plant roots, using Finite-Element modelling and live experiments, accounting for the roots’ mechanosensation to detect obstacles and grow efficiently in the soil.

Avraham Kolel, M.Sc. Research Student

Avraham Kolel

As part of my M.Sc. research I am focused on experiments and simulations of strain gradient hydrogels with embedded cells using various geometric configurations to examine cell response for complex tissue development.

Eilam Golan, M.Sc. Research Student

Eilam Golan

As part of my M.Sc research, I create collagen fiber scaffolds derived from marine corals, examine the development of skeletal muscle cells cultured on these scaffolds, and investigate the effect of mechanical  stimuli on tissue development.

Bar Ergaz, M.Sc. Research Student

Bar Ergaz

I received my B.Sc. in Biotechnology Engineering, Ben Gurion University, and currently doing my M.Sc. studies at the Lesman Lab for tissue engineering.

Avior Exsol, M.Sc. Research Student

Avior Exsol

I received my B.Sc. in mechanical engineering, and as a part of my M.Sc. study I am working on testing fibers’ alignment in fibrous materials under tensile strength and its relation to the mesh characteristics as connectivity and initial state.

Ran Glinowiecki, M.Sc. Research Student

Ran Glinowiecki

As a part of my M.Sc. research I focus on cell migration and proliferation in wound healing. I investigate how to improve these factors by mechanically manipulating the wound environment and cells within it.

Janet Demirel, M.Sc. Project Student

Janet Demirel

I am doing my master degree at the material engineering department, my final project is focused on investigating the mechanical properties of gelatin based materials.
